N2.1bn Fraud: Dokpesi Received Funds Without Executing Any Contract – Witness

Mr Usman Aliyu, a prosecution witness in the N2.1bn fraud case filed against Chief Raymond Dokpesi, on Monday told the Federal High Court, Abuja, that the defendant received the money without executing any contract. Dokpesi, a chieftain of the PDP, was docked by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), for allegedly receiving the money from the office of former National Security Adviser (NSA), retired Col. Sambo Dasuki. Aliyu, an operative of the EFCC, led in evidence by the Commission’s counsel, Mr Oluwaleke Atolagbe, said that Dokpesi received the funds through his company, DAAR Investments and Holdings Ltd. EFCC docks NIMG Director, Procurement Officer over N70m fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Monday, May 28, 2018 arraigned the duo of Engineer Umar Saidu Bamali and Adeniyi Adeosun before Justice Daniel Longji of the State High Court sitting Jos, Plateau State, on a 6-count charge of conspiracy, misappropriation of funds and criminal breach of trust. Trouble started for Bamali, a former Director and Chief Executive Officer of Nigeria Institute of Mining and Geo sciences, NIMG, and Adeosun, the Procurement Officer, when a staff of NIMG petitioned the EFCC on how the defendants allegedly converted to their personal use, millions of naira belonging to NIMG. Investigations into the matter revealed that the defendants diverted over N70million, money meant for allowances of staff of NIMG and contracts of printing of security and non security documents. The family of late Gani Fawehinmi would accept the latest attempt by the Nigerian government to honour the iconic rights activist for his pro-citizens advocacy and other legacies of bravery, Premium Times reports. President Muhammadu Buhari announced Wednesday that Mr Fawehinmi would be posthumously conferred with the Grand Commander of Nigeria (GCON), Nigeria’s second highest honour, in an unexpected gesture that has since rippled through the nation’s sociopolitical structure.
